| Immigration Issues Hello to all, I am writing this letter in reference to some issues people, myself included, have experienced dealing with Immigrations/Homeland Security. I was on my way home from Uzbekistan last April, via Moscow to LAX to Seattle. I went through customs in Moscow & Uzbekistan with absolutely no problems. Was treated with respect even though there was a language barrier. Not until I arrived at LAX, was I treated with such disrespect and rudeness, that after I finally cleared customs, several Russian passengers made it a point to say to me how much they were shocked at how rude U.S Customs was to me. And Im an American. I fought for this country I live in and it somehow reminded me of returning to the states after my Nam tour of 67-68. So I wonder of the people who are trying to become citizens here, or as I was...just treated rude because the e Government Employee, paid by the people to serve the people, doesnt like his job or maybe his soft chair needs to be replaced. Not just us veterans, but anyone who enters this country (legally) has that 1st impression of how they are received at Immigrations. It is these few bad- apples that need to be held responsible and/or accountable for their actions and attitude they display. If you have, or know someone who has been mistreated or treated unfairly, please take the time to email the Vet Center so we can take appropriate measures in regards to this matter. Thank You, Michael J Wheatley | |
| A TIME TO BLAME Why is it when something goes wrong the first thing we do is try to blame someone, some place, some how, never pointing the fickle finger of faith back to ourselves. Katrina was catastrophic and will be heart breaking for years. Was it any one person who caused the storm? Is their any one who is bigger in dimension than a human? Who could of prevented it from happening? If you can answer those questions than you may have the answer to who is to blame for the happenings of Katrina. Now the real big questions was it possible to get phones, food, water, medical care, electricity, rebuild levees and save lives all at the same time lets see it takes time when you call reserves in for they are working people also. I guess all the areas could have had blow horns in hidden places to pull out so they could control the masses instead of depending on our government for a telephone system that is within the realm of the States responsibility to communicate within their state and their authority figures during a time of emergency. Race, color and gender had nothing to do with response, it was trying to save lives all lives including those who decided to loot and kill those who were helping them, making it twice as difficult. The people were given days to get out before it happened, share a ride, walk, run, take a bus but did they? No, why? Because many people felt it just wasnt going to be as large as it was, so if thats the case and the people, the state and our federal government all felt the same thing, why is there so many people pointing fingers? When the thumb points back to themselves. I believe it is City, State Government, Federal Government, not Federal Government, State Government, City. Perhaps we all need to go back to school and take a course on government so we can keep America free. If you have a loved one lost in Katrina please let us know and we will post the names and when found get them a handmade quilt to help keep the good memories wrapped around them and it will be given in your name ..God Bless | |
